Hello my dears! Today we introducing the new malware and vulnerability scanner v4.1. That is the same Virusdie scanner that detects and helps you remove malware and vulnerabilities on your websites, but with one significant improvement. And that one new tiny thing, we believe, will help you to find the new types on malware on your website, faster. And that is really matter!

So what was the problem?

You probably know, that Virusdie uses two different types of scans for your website – the entire scan and the fast scan. That helps protect your web-server against daily overload, cos the entire scan is not a simple task for your server and that takes lot of resources (of course, that is optimised, but that is a big task for your hardware). The entire website scan is a robust scan procedure, when we scan all your website files and entire your website database to find malware and vulnerabilities. And that entire scan works for websites that you add to your dashboard as the first scan, and then each week.

During a week interval, between entire scans, we use Fast Scans for your files and website database. Fast Scan is a type of scan, when we scan not all of your website files and website database – but we scan the new files and fields, and edited files and fields since the previous scan. That is a kind of a Snapshot Scan. And that helps keep your web-server stable with no overload, so your websites on your host runs with no delays in terms of user experience, for your site visitors.

And the problem was with the thing, that previously, some of new detection rules that been added during the time between Entire Scans, could be unavailable for Fast Scans. For new files and database fields, for edited files and database fields, and for all files and entire database fields as well. That literally means, that there were cases when you can get the complete website scan on weekly basis only to trust that – that is a big problem, to get scan results you can completely trust on 100%, just on weekly basis, when the Entire Scan works.

The solution

Now there is new engine for the Fast Scans. And that solves the problem! The Entire Scan work the same way as previously, but it runs just the 1st time you add your website to Virusdie dashboard. And the Fast Scan now scans all your website files and entire database with new detection rules that’ve been added to our database since the time of previous scan. And of course, all new and edited files and database fields scans with new detection rules as well!

That slightly increase your web-server (relevant to previous version of the Fast Scan), but significantly reduce the time gap you get the scan results you can trust 100%. So now, you get scan results based an all available detection rules, whenever you start your website scan.
